Prime Minister Hon. Peter O'Neill mourns for PNC president
PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill, ministers, dignitaries and families of PNC president Simon Korua, were in mourning yesterday at the Jacksons Airport when welcoming his body from Australia.
The president’s body arrived from Cairns, Australia yesterday, and was escorted by the chairperson of NCD Water and Sewerage Limited and Eda Ranu board of directors Mary Karo and other public figures as well as his wife.
The body was handed over to the Prime Minister and the ministers by Mrs Karo during its arrival at the airport.
It was a very emotional afternoon that captured the attention of the public in and around the Jackson’s International terminal who stopped to pay their respects.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and his family will visit the late Mr Korua’s mourning house this afternoon pay their final respects to Mr Korua and his family.
Mr Korua’s funeral service will be held on Saturday at the Sioni Kami Memorial church and his body will be flown to Western Highlands Province for burial on Tuesday.
