ICT firm urges use of device
The losses and costs that are likely to be incurred due to power interruptions can be quite substantial.
However this can be minimised, participants of a day-long ICT seminar organised by Datec were told in Port Moresby yesterday.
There are now solutions available on the market that can help protect businesses, maximise productivity and reduce operating costs every year.
One of those participants was Eaton Power Solutions, whose presentation was based on the uninterrupted power supply (UPS) devices that are on offer.
Project sales engineer Rod Daw said it is beneficial for computer users to use UPS series 9; businesses would no longer have to worry about power interruptions and likely damages.
“With all the power problems that people experience, we provide solutions and equipment which provide them with clean, reliable energy.
“We basically reconstruct completely the power supply that is directly received from transformers to computers and supply that in a solution that provides reliability and redundancy,” Mr Daw said.
He said despite the many UPS strategies that are available on the market, there is only one that is currently recommended.
“We recommend a computer user to actually use the online UPS series 9 because not only is it reliable and cost effective, but it also converts direct power into clean energy that can be used,” he said.
He warned that many counterfeit products and poor solutions have been suggested by unreliable suppliers but it is also important that organizations take into account the solution that he presented.
“Many people often don’t notice that all UPS must have a back feed protection system in place. It is an important component.
“For instance, people can get easily electrocuted from using cheap second-hand CPU (central processing units) that have poor output plugs and that is an example of a UPS system having a poor back feed protection in place.”
