O'Neill expresses gratitude to outgoing Japanese Ambassador Hirohahu Iwasaki
The Prime Minister, Hon Peter O’Neill CMG MP, wished H.E. Hirohahu Iwasaki well for the successful completion of his appointment as Ambassador of Japan to Papua New Guinea.
The Prime Minister further expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for his efforts strengthening bilateral relations noting that “Cooperation between the two countries at all levels has been consolidated and enhanced.”
Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill further noted the success of the visit to Papua New Guinea by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in July 2014 that has elevated and strengthened bilateral cooperation in the areas of trade and investment. Outcomes from the visit by Japan’s Prime Minister included:
- The successful launching of the PNG-Japan Joint Committee on IPPA.
- The announcement of the 20 Billion Yen (2 billion Kina) Overseas Development Assistance package for PNG over a period of three years for support in various economic development initiatives and projects around the nation.
“On behalf of the people and Government of Papua New Guinea, and on my own behalf, I would like to express best wishes to you and your family as you depart our shores to return home,” Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill said at the conclusion of his meeting with the Ambassador.
