PNG 2014 Digicel Cup Grand Final deferred

The PNGNRL has called off this Sunday’s Digicel Cup Grand Final between the Kemele Hela Wigmen and Agmark Rabaul Gurias until further notice.

This was announced this afternoon following the meeting between PNGNRL, the Gurias and Wigmen officials.

Wigmen’s Andy Hetra claimed that the last minute change of venue from Lae to Kokopo in a last minute decision is no correct and the Franchise is willing to put forward K200, 000 for the Lae venue with K150, 000 for the fencing and upgrade of the Lae rugby league oval with the remaining K50, 000 to pay for the provision of security during the grand final.

The Gurias opposed the suggestion and stood firm with the PNGNRL earlier decision that the game should be played at Kalabond oval in Kokopo.
