Tiensten still fighting

Jailed Pomio MP Paul Tiensten has a case on foot in the Supreme Court, according to the court registry in Waigani. This means the People of Pomio will have to wait awhile before a member represents them in Parliament. Electoral Commission’s NGI Operations Manager Alphonse Yapen says the seat is still vacant but due to the matter in court, no action is taken yet by the EC to conduct a by-election. Meanwhile Electoral Officers in ENB say they are awaiting the call from the Head Quarter in Port Moresby. Tiensten was imprisoned   for 9 years after being found guilty of misappropriation. Meanwhile, though being kicked aside by the government, Investigation Task Force Sweep Team has proven it again, when the National Court found Gulf Governor Havila Kavo guilty of misappropriation yesterday. ITFS was involved in the investigations, and the matter had slowly made its way up the court levels. According to a source, ITFS is relieved that the court is doing its job well without fear or favour at this trying times.  He says ITFS finds comfort in the impartiality of the court, and will continue regardless of scarce resources to carry out investigations on others on their list.
