Northbuild pilots K43m project in Papua New Guinea
AUSTRALIAN based builder Northbuild Construction has set another standard in their first ever contract undertaken in PNG with the completion of the new K43 million BSP Lae Commercial centre last Friday in Lae.
Project manager Scott Elmslie said the new look BSP in down town Lae city is built to very high Australian standards that can withstand earthquakes as well. "This is very exciting times for Northbuild in PNG having completed its pilot project with great hopes and expectations and on target since undertaken in April 2013," said Mr Elmslie.
He said the 4 storey building is designed by Australian Architectures with the company employing local workforce not only for the BSP project but three other major projects in Lae as pilot projects for Northbuild in PNG.
Norhtbuild office manager in Lae Alda Tibong has confirmed the other three projects are the massive overhaul and refurbishment of the five storey Vele Rumana building in the centre of Lae city and upon completion to be known as the Morobe House. Tibong said the Vele Rumana project is expected to be completed by mid 2015. She added that the other two projects by Norhtbuild in PNG are the construction of a 6 unit apartment for Trukai Industries at Eriku to be completed by the end of this year.
Tibong said the third project is the new set up base for Hastings Deering at 9-mile opposite the Lae- Bulolo highway junction.
"Again this is a very high level and quality project as the first for Northbuild in Lae and PNG after operating for the past 20 years in Australia," said Mr Elmslie.
Tibong said the BSP project is very spectacular to be the first of its kind in PNG putting together a 4storey high rise facility that is very luxurious. PapuaNew Guinea Today / Post Courier
