Marape Says Spending Within Budget Limits Is A Priority
The 2014 national budget is in tune with the current expenditures on developments infrastructures around the country.
This was the assurance given by Finance Minister James Marape, in a media briefing this afternoon at Vulupindi Haus.
Despite carrying on with a deficit budget, Minister Marape said the budget is tracking at 71 per cent.
The finance minister was accompanied by his secretary, Dr Ken Ngangan when highlighting and giving a rundown of the expenditure of the 2014 budget.
Minister Marape said a lot of criticism has surfaced around the current government’s expenditure, but all is well, as spending within budget limits is a priority.
Marape said all major infrastructures including health, education subsidies, 2015 Pacific Games, PSIP and DSIP are tracking appropriately above 75 per cent.
He said the O’Neill-Dion Government will continue to improve and deliver service to the people.
However Minister Marape gave a sound warning to all department heads, as there has been a lot of unnecessary spending in certain departments.
