Port Moresby City Police on Noise Pollution
Police in Port Moresby city has issued warnings to residents on noise pollution. Police have enforced a ban on loud music and will not be entertained nor tolerated after 10 pm.
If anyone is caught playing loud music, they will be charged for noise pollution and their sound systems will be confiscated.
Meanwhile about 700 cartons of beer illegally held in settlement areas of Port Moresby were confiscated by police.
This is in line with the liquor ban, where police are enforcing the ban on the sale of alcohol in residential areas.
Following the confiscation of beer cartons, NCD Metropolitan Superintendent, Andy Bawa has issued strong warnings to those selling alcohol without licenses to stop their operations, or they will be arrested and charged.
He said seven arrests were made so far and any vehicle found transporting beer will be impounded.
So far, there have been no reports of road crimes and accidents; while police continue to aim on minimising traffic accidents throughout NCD, as much as possible.
Bawa said that the number of alcohol related problems, reported to police stations have dropped this week.
