James Segeyaro named in Queensland Origin Emerging Squad
PNG born Panthers live wire hooker, James Segeyaro has been named in Queensland Origin Emerging Squad. Queensland Rugby League in conjunction with Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) will provide an opportunity for 18 Origin hopefuls to further press their claims for future XXXX Maroons selection with the annual emerging camps commencing in Brisbane this weekend.
The QAS programs have been revamped in 2015, with this weekend’s activities to focus on the Queensland State of Origin Emerging Squad.
Former Origin and new Brisbane Broncos Head Coach Wayne Bennett will again oversee the camp, under the watchful eye of XXXX Maroons Head Coach Mal Meninga with specialist input from his Origin coaching and medical staff.
North Queensland Cowboys back-rower Gavin Cooper gets his first opportunity to take part in the Queensland State of Origin Emerging Squad, joining fellow debutants Tim Glasby (Storm/Easts Tigers), Corey Thompson (Bulldogs), Tautau Moga (Cowboys) and NRL grand final winning Rabbitohs forward David Tyrrell.
Another exciting newcomer to the emerging camp will be Brisbane halfback and 2014 Kangaroo Ben Hunt, who will follow in the same footsteps as Daly Cherry-Evans by attending his first camp after representing his country the year before.
