K415M SHOULD NOT BE AN ANSWER FOR GOVT’S FINACIAL SYSTEM BREAKDOWN: POLYE
PNG Opposition Leader Don Polye |
PORT MORESBY: Papua New Guinea Opposition Leader Don Polye says the K415 million paid to the state as a dividend would not be an answer to its financial system breakdown last week.
Mr Polye said the opposition would not be surprised when the government’s financial system was back for normal operation anytime this week.
“The government’s quest for money here and there to fill the public coffers (which are being empty) under the pretext of blaming the rats for causing havoc in the state’s cash flow has found K415 million in the National Petroleum Company of Papua New Guinea.
“The money was paid by NPCP as dividend to the state through the Independent Public Business Corporation,” said Mr Polye.
He reiterated that the government and its cohorts were only capable of telling lies to the people.
“As I earlier said blaming rats for damaging the cables in the government’s financial system is a laughingstock and an embarrassment has come to a reality.
“A conclusion can be drawn now that the government account was dry so they deliberately shifted the blame to rats. Now that K415 million has been transferred into the public coffers, they will announce its normal operation.” a concerned Polye said.
He urged the government and its cohorts to refrain from misleading the people when attributing the dividend as sourced from the LNG project.
“As we know that the government’s dividend shares in the LNG project which is managed by NPCP have been mortgaged to service the controversial Union Bank of Swiss loan.
“This is another smoke-screen by the government to make its incompetency in managing the economy look well and to impose on our people to think that our government struck a good deal,” he said.
