PNG Fans anticipate ‘Michael Learns to Rock’ PNG tour

Fans of Michael Learns to Rock throughout Papua New Guinea are anticipating watching their favourite band of all time perform live for the first time in PNG's Capital Port Moresby this month.

The famous Danish pop/soft rock band will hit the stage on January 17 at Port Moresby's  Gold Club, Lamana Hotel and will certainly bring back memories of the 90s for many fans.

Also known as MLTR, the band was formed in 1988 and has so far sold more than 11 million records worldwide.

29 year old fan Steven Legu said he was very excited when he first heard about the band’s tour to PNG and has already purchased his ticket.

“I love MLTR! It was my favourite band while growing up and I think of those days every time I listen to their songs now,” Legu said.

Tickets are selling at K150 for the arena and K250 balcony with limited tickets available.

Lamana Hotel’s assistant general manager Jacquie Simons said tickets are selling fast and they’re excited to be sponsoring the band’s trip to PNG.

“It’s already the talk of the country so I’m sure the hype is out there. I even had radio stations in the other provinces ask me to send information for their listeners,” Simons said.

The band originally consisted of four members, singer and keyboard player Jascha Richter, drummer Kare Wanscher, guitarist Mikkel Lentz and bassist Soren Madsen.

With Soren Madsen who decided to leave the group to embark on a solo career, only three of the band members will be touring PNG.
