Former police officer calls on re-arming Royal Solomon Islands Police Force

A  FORMER Police officer  in the Solomon Isalnds  says its time to re-arm the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and local security firms in the country are seen fitting.

Hendry Kahui revealed that to Solomon Star last week.

He said, that as criminal activities continue to sprout, re-arming the force is appropriate.

“We need a good armed force in order to deal with such culprit.

“Letting the criminal rate sprouting without taking such tough measures on those culprits will be severe for us in the future.

“Before it’s too late for this nation, re-armament needs to be done now,” he said.

Kahui said that the Westpac bank robbery last Monday is just the beginning.

“And worst are expected years ahead once Police do not step up their operations.

“Police and local security firms in the country should by now know that lives are at risk adding culprits are not fearing anyone can kill, destroy and steal.

“Re-arming the Police and security firms in the country must be done to reduce such criminal behaviours.”

Meanwhile, he appealed to the public work closely with the police and security firms to maintain law and order in the city.

He said, if the Government is really serious about getting the people’s view ahead of the rearming process, then people of Honiara should be given the chance to speak their thoughts on the issue.
