Namah to contest Sandaun Province Governor seat
Former PNG Opposition leader and member for Vanimo Green, Belden Namah, has made his intentions known to contest the vacant seat of governor, for the Sandaun Provincial Government.
“I feel that it is an opportunity for me to run for the governor's seat, as I have less duty at the national level after being removed as the leader of the opposition,” he said.
Namah said he has proven himself at the district level, and expressed that the time had come for him to contest for the seat of the governor.
“By the end of this month all roads in Vanimo Green will be connected by road after 40 years”, he said.
He added that he will let the people of Sandaun decide, during the polls on who should be governor.
The seat has been vacant for two years, after the incumbent governor, Amkat Mai, was ousted in an election petition.
The Papua New Guinea Electoral Commission has yet to release dates for the bi-election for the Sandaun governor.
