Pigs chopped, properties destroyed in a compensation payment disagreement in Ialibu

The peaceful town of Ialibu in the Southern Highlands Province came to stand still as  relatives of a deceased person from the provincial capital Mendi slaughter and chopped those pigs that were meant for a compensation payment. It is understood a child was ran over by a vehicle owned by Ialibus in Mendi town. The relatives of the deceased person blamed the Ialibus for the death and wanted upfront compensation payment.

According to reports, the Ialibus came up with  upfront compensation payment of  10 huge pigs and K10 000 cash.

However, the relatives of the deceased person did not agree with what was offered   and   slaughtered the pigs and threaten innocent people in the town.

According to eyewitness a  fight broke out between Mendi and Ialibu , and properties worth thousands of kina belonging to both sides were destroyed, especially vehicles and market properties. A quick action from Police stopped what supposed to turn into a bloody fight. A leader from the Ialibu side stated that "these group of people are animals and not a real human beings and do not show respect to the animals"
In the mean time police are investigating the incident and those who  involved will be arrested and charged.
