PNG Electoral Commissioner Trawen announces Pomio by Election
Electoral commissioner, Andrew Trawen has announced that the Commission is now preparing to hold the POMIO DISTRICT by election following the approval of dates by GG, His Excellency Sir Michael Ogio.
This follows the conviction and jailing of Former Member, Paul Tiensten in March 2014.
The issuing of writs for the by election will be on the 12th of march 2015 at 4pm with the close of nomination on the 18th of March, Polling will start on the 9th of May 2015 and end on the 22 may 2015, with the return of writ on the 11 of June 2015. Trawen has also pointed out that the approval by the GG will also kick start the program with the confirmation of the RO and ARO, polling schedules and budget estimates at a cost of K3.5M from the commission’s re-current.
