PNG Hunters beat Northern Pride 44 - 24 in a trial match

The Papua New Guinea SP Hunters have beaten Northern Pride with a convincing score line of 44 - 24 in an error- riddled  trial match at Barlow Park in Cairns last night. Both teams field in their young members for the trial match.

The PNG Hunters scored first through Adam Korave. Two more tries to the Hunters had the 2014 Intrust Super Cup champions looking for answers trailing 16-0 in the final stanza of the first half.

Pride tried hard to break the PNG defence and a try close to halftime gave the Northern Pride some comfort as both sides headed for the dressing room with the scores at 16-4.

In the second half the Hunters well executed game plan and scored couple of tries through Israel Eliab, Thompson Teteh and David Lapua and lead 34 - 12 in the final quarter.

The Northern Pride however kept trying and crossed the line a number of times in the last quarter but it wasn’t enough and closed to gap at 44 - 24 at full time.

This is the only PNG Hunters trial game played this year so far before the 2015 Instrust Super Cup session begins next month.
