PNG Opposition condemns URP, PNC alliance
PNG Opposition leader Don Polye condemns party alliance |
Port Moresby: The Opposition condemned the ‘political marriage’ that United Resources party and the ruling party Peoples National Congress entered into.
Opposition Leader Don Polye branded this alliance ‘as self-serving and lost of vote-of-confidence in other coalition partners’.
“It is a just one side of the political game. Others in the government are equally important as URP.
“It is a slap in the face of other loyal political parties that formed the coalition government and is undemocratic,” said Mr Polye.
He added that the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill had no respect for them.
Polye said the PNC’s ‘cannibalizing of political parties’ to swell its number had demonstrated to the people that it has no respect for the OLLIPAC.
“It is dictatorial in nature and is detrimental to our democracy’s vibrancy,” he said.
He is calling on those that ‘were not included in the bi-alliance’ to form a mega alliance with the Opposition to elect a better government.
“We will not be surprised to see others forming an alliance with us to get rid of the corrupt government which has done many controversial decisions for our people,” he said.
He said PNC won only 26 seats in the General Elections, adding PNC should not be beating its breast about its claim of 65 MPs.
“We will give O’Neill a surprise to see that he will be left with only 31 MPs.
Polye said he was adamant to change the government through a possible vote-no-confidence against O’Neill as the Opposition has met the requirement of 21 MPs.
