Australia's Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop on first official visit to Tonga
Australia's Foreign Affairs Minister, Julie Bishop will arrive Tonga this evening in her first official visit to the Kingdom.
The visit is part of Tonga and Australia's initiative to deepen diplomatic ties and mutual interest.
While in Nuku'alofa, Minister Bishop will hold a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, 'Akilisi Pohiva.
She will meet with Cabinet Ministers whose portfolio directly relates to Australia's monetary assistance to Tonga, followed by a press conference with the media at the Fa'onelua Convention Centre.
Bishop will also visit various projects supported by Australian aid. These include the Ministry of Police, Masefiled Naval Base of His Majesties Armed Forces, fisheries and agricultural sector, and Fua'amotu health centre.
She will depart Tonga on Thursday afternoon.
