In the second half,  Hunters came back even stronger in the second 40 minutes of play.

It all started with Hunters captain Israel Eliab who sprinted away to score after being put into space from good second man plays.

The Magpies had little answers for the Hunters’ onslaught as minutes later, quick hands saw David Lapua dive over to score on the wing. This extended the lead to 36-12.

The Magpies put up some fight, racking up consecutive sets of six which eventually turned into points for them when Mitch Garbutt scored under the posts.

But the Hunters made sure their opponents did not concede any more points with some solid defence that kept the Magpies away from the try line.

Hunter’s Thompson Teteh put the icing on the cake, running 60 metres to score right on the full time siren and cap off a top performance for the Hunters.

Hunters beat Magpies 40 - 18 at full time.

The Hunters will host Redcliff Dolphines at home in Kokopo next week.
