Vanuatu to attend 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby, PNG
VANUATU will take part in the July Port Moresby Pacific Games, organizing committee chief executive officer Peter Stewart has confirmed.
Two weeks ago Cyclone Pam ripped through the small island nation, leaving behind scenes of utter devastation.
Since then, the United Nations had reached all 22 storm-affected islands of the country, with food for more than 160,000 people.
Stewart said Vanuatu, which would host the 2017 Pacific Mini Games, was confident of bringing in a big contingent despite the devastation suffered. Team Vanuatu’s chef de mission attended a meeting hosted by the organising committee over the weekend and pledged the country’s participation.
The sporting heads were briefed by committee on preparations and what to expect in Port Moresby.
