French Polynesia seeks 2023 Pacific Games
French Polynesia says it wants to host the 2023 Pacific Games.
The territory's sports minister, Rene Temeharo, says he raised the plans with the head of the French Olympic Committee during his talks in Paris.
Temeharo says hosting the event is a priority and Denis Massiglia has indicated his support.
He says beyond the sport, the Games would allow France to project its image in the Pacific.
The French government previously bankrolled the 2011 Pacific Games in New Caledonia and 2013 Mini Games in Wallis and Futuna
