PNG Hunters face strong Falcon side
Papua New Guinea Hunters are expected to face strong Falcon side that has several NRL players, particularly from the Melbourn Storm this afternoon. The round 5 of the Intrust Super Cup will be played at the Sunshine Coast Stadium at 3:30pm today.
Falcon's center Rueben Baillie says a growing bond among Sunshine Coast and Melbourne players will pay dividends today when the Falcons take on the PNG Hunters. The Falcons have lost their three opening matches of the season to sit second-last on the ladder and are desperate to enter the winner's circle after showing indifferent form over the past month.
Baillie said the growing pressure to win had not affected his squad too much.
"It is important for us to get a win, but we need to focus on our game before we worry about having to win," Baillie said.
"If we get that first win we might string a few together and that is what we are hoping to do this weekend."
Their ambition to post their first victory of 2015 will not be made easier by Sunday's opponents who sit second on the ladder.
"PNG are the benchmark," Baillie said.
"They play a bit of a different style of footy to everyone else and are just natural athletes who can create something out of nothing.
"We played them twice last year and had really tight games, so we will get some confidence out of that."
The PNG Hunters will go into the game as favourites, having beaten the Falcons in their last two encounters.
The game will be telecast live on TVWAN for PNG viewers. Others around the world can view the live stream on this link. > PNG Hunters vs Sunshine Coast Falcons live Stream
