Wynnum Manly Seagulls beat PNG Hunters 36 - 18
The Papua New Guinea Hunters were beaten 36 - 18 by the Wynnum Manly Seagulls at the BMD Kougari Oval this afternoon.
The homeside was first to score on the 5th minute and took the early lead 6 - 0. The Hunters replied with a try through hard running forward Isau Siune and levelled the score 6 - 6 in the first quarter of the game.
The Seagulls capitalised on the Hunters errors and scored two more tries again to take the lead 16 - 6 at half time.
In the second half, the Seagulls well executed game plan and shut out the Hunters completely and ran in more tries through Daniel Ogden, Greg Eden and Olsi Krasniqi. The home side took 34 - 6 lead in the final quarter. However, the Hunters found some energy to fight back and scored two tries through Brandy Peter and Israel Eliab to reduced the gap to 34 - 18 . The Hunters were penalised again and the Seagulls shot a penalty goal to extend the lead to 36 - 18.
Poor ball control and penalties were the root cause of the Hunter’s second consecutive loss.
The Seagulls won 36 - 18 at full time.
