Link PNG launches Services to Kiriwina , Milne Bay Province
Air Niugini’s subsidiary company, Link PNG has officially launched its service to Losuia airport in Kiriwina, MilneBay province on Friday, 25th April 2015.
Minister for Public Enterprise and State Investment- Ben Micah, Air Niugini/Link PNG Board Chairman Sir Frederick Reiher, Link PNG’s CEO Daniel Wanma, Member for Kiriwina-Good enough and Minister for Forests, Douglas Tomuriesa, other local MPs and heads of statutory bodies travelled to Kiriwina and launched this much needed air service.
Minister Micah in launching the service, commended Link PNG for ensuring that remote and less profitable routes are not only maintained but progressively expanded to meet the growing transport needs of this country and its people.
“ Link PNG’s focus is to ensure regular, reliable , safe and affordable services to the more remote parts of Papua New Guinea and it’s great to see Link PNG connecting this beautiful part of the country to the rest of Papua New Guinea.”
Sir Frederick said Link PNG was happy to be able provide services to people in remote areas and that the inclusion of Losuia now brings the total Link PNG destinations to fourteen (14).
“ Like most parts of MilneBay, Kiriwina does have a lot to provide in terms of district services and tourism. Your many beautiful islands are just breath taking, marine life together with your lively , preserved culture provides a lot for tourists to see and experience. Link PNG is happy that it is now able to connect your island to the rest of the country.” He said.
Link PNG’s commercial flights to Kiriwina have infact started on 30th March with the official launch in April.
Schedule flights operate twice a week, every Mondays and Fridays. Losuia airport is located on Kiriwina Island, which is part of the Trobriand group of Islands.
In addition to the Losuia service, Link PNG has also introduced its daily services to Kiunga, Hagen and Lae via Rabaul. Prior to the new schedule towards the end of March, Link PNG only operated from Lae to Hoskins, Rabaul and back to Lae.
Link PNG initially operated to twelve(12) PNG destinations. The inclusion of Losuia and Mt Hagen now bring to total, fourteen(14) destinations.
The airline is also planning to expand its services to other smaller airports in New Britain, New Ireland, Sandaun, East Sepik, Oro and Morobe Provinces.
All Link PNG services are operated by the airline’s Dash 8 fleet.
