PNG extends Congratulations to United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron for his reelection

The Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, Peter O'Neill  has extended congratulations on behalf of the Government of Papua New Guinea to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rt Hon David Cameron MP, on his electoral victory.

Prime Minister O'Neill said as Commonwealth nations, the United Kingdom and Papua New Guinea share a number of bonds and these will only continue to strengthen.

"I congratulate David Cameron and his Government on their election by the people of the United Kingdom to Govern for a second term," Prime Minister O'Neill said.

"As the home of the Westminster system of parliamentary democracy, general elections in the United Kingdom are closely followed in Commonwealth nations.

"I look forward to meeting with Prime Minister Cameron and building on our bilateral relationship, and our ongoing cooperation in a number of multilateral forums.

"The United Kingdom has long been a close friend and has strongly encouraged and supported our role in the Commonwealth and the international community.

"Our two countries share common positions on a range of international issues that include security, development and poverty alleviation, and environmental management.

"Papua New Guinea is deeply appreciative of the support and our partnership with the Government of the by the United Kingdom that has worked to enhance development in our nation."
