Police confiscate more than 100 bags of betelnet at Gabi Village
Over 100 bags of betelnut bags were confiscated in an early morning raid at Gabi Village by Police following tip off.. The raid was led by Chief Inspector Silas Waya Gure. The betelnut bags were smuggled in by Mekeo Villagers into Gabi by sea. The villagers were taken by surprises as Police launched the raid. The villagers mainly youths tried to attack the Police by throwing stones but Police fired warning shots into the air and dispersed the youths.
Chief Inspector Gure said, Police will continue with these raids and warned Motuan Villagers that they are also on the look out for police officers who are also involved in these illegal act. He said there is a process already in place for the selling of betelnut in NCD, which Governor Powes Parkop continues to emphasis on and this must be respected for the good the city and its cleanliness especially during our preparations for the Pacific Games
