Newly Built Taurama Aquatic Centre To be Tested

Pacific Games Organising Committee Chief Executive Officer, Peter Stewart said, “We want the people to come and help us test our ticketing and security systems, park and ride, and spectator services. This will also be the first time, this incredible venue will be open to the public, so we encourage everyone to come and see for yourself the amount of work that has
been done to get this venue ready for the Games.”
The Boroko Swimming Club will have the honour to trial out the remarkable Olympic size 50 metre swimming pool with dolphin sprint events. This will commence at 9am – 12 Midday.
Meanwhile the Indoor Centre will give the newly laid multi-purpose courts a test run with men’s and women’s basketball and Volleyball matches in a round robin knockout competition.
Taekwondo and Karate will also be hosted at the centre as well, rounding out an action packed day.
The test events will be free to the public. GOC will exercise ticketing and security check systems at the gates to control number of spectators entering to ensure the seating capacity of each venue is maintained, as well as ensuring safety for everyone.
Public parking at the Taurama Aquatic Centre is not allowed. Park and Ride service will be operating from the Murray Barracks Field.
The NCDC Shuttle bus will transport the public to and from the Park and Ride. Only public who are using the Park & Ride will board the buses.
The normal public motor vehicle service will operate so everyone is encouraged to come and watch the event and help the Committee to test out its workforce and systems.
