Papua New Guinea government in UK for most significant outreach to Northern Hemisphere investors
On 16th June, the Government of Papua New Guinea comes to London, for the inaugural UK-Papua New Guinea Trade & Investment Forum: the most significant outreach from the Papua New Guinea government to investors in the northern hemisphere. Organised by DMA and led by HE Peter O’Neill, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, the visit will provide a unique opportunity for investors and business leaders to gain in-depth knowledge of one of the world’s most exciting frontier markets.
The Economist recently cited Papua New Guinea as the world’s fastest-growing economy in 2015, with a projected GDP growth rate of 14.8%. Natural gas exports from the country’s $19 billion LNG project - the largest private investment in the nation's history - commenced earlier this year whilst the country also boasts significant deep-sea copper and gold reserves and an agricultural sector ripe for investment.
To initiate vigorous, constructive dialogue between would-be investors and government, HE Peter O’Neill, will be accompanied by the most senior delegation of ministers and officials to ever attend an international event including Hon Patrick Pruaitch, Minister of Treasury and Hon Richard Maru, Minister of Trade and Commerce. Speaking alongside the delegation,
CEO’s from several of the country’s leading business – including ANZ, Oil Search, Nautilus
Minerals, Exxon and Steamships– will present their own investment plans in Papua New
Guinea, as well as sharing details of their experiences and successes.
“I want to assure you, the door of our Government is always open to the business
community” states HE Peter O’Neill “This will be an important event for broadening horizons
for Papua New Guinea businesses with our counterparts in Europe and I look forward to
your participation.”
The prestigious forum, supported by FCO and UKTI, will be comprised of both plenary and more targeted sessions. It has been specifically designed to highlight investment
opportunities in Papua New Guinea, key sectors (energy, mining and agro-business), partnership opportunities and market entry strategy. DMA is also arranging 1-2-1 meetings to take place in the margins. To attend this invite-only forum, please email
