PNG Government has no intention to ban use of Mobile phones in schools
The Papua New Guinea Government has no intention to ban mobile phones in schools. PNG Education Minister Nick Kuman told Parliament that the use of Mobile Phones should be managed by the school managements. It is the responsibility of the school boards to ensure that the use of phones in schools is monitored to avoid distractions.
He was responding to a Members question in Parliament regarding the use of mobile phones in schools in PNG.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kuman emphasised in Parliament that there is serious lack of discipline in schools right throughout the country and the lack of management by parents, students, communities and the teachers has also contributed to a closing of a school in Middle Ramu is unacceptable. He said "Education is everyone's Business". Students need to be disciplined and parents need to take control of their children at home and schools need to control and manage students behaviour". Mr Kuman was replying to Governor Kila Hoada in Parliament today.
