PNG Hunters set for big showdown at city venue
The Papua New Guinea Hunters are set for a big showdown in round 14 Intrust Super match against the Souths Logan Magpies on Saturday night.
For the first time, the Hunters game comes to the capital city and a bumper crowd of well over 15 000 are expected to fill the Sir John Guise stadium.
The Hunters are on 4th place on the Intrust Super Cup ladder after their six wins in a row. A win against the Magpies will see them unbeaten at home.
The Hunters forwards led by Essau Siune, Henry Wan, Wartovo Puara, Adam Korave, Brandy Peter, Timothy Lomai have led the foundation for the back line in attack and in defense.
Hunters coach Michael Marum says, his players are fit and ready. "
We’ve got no injury worries apart from Henry Wan, who’s recovering from an ailment, but we’ll give him until today to prove his fitness.”
If Wan is ruled out, Enoch Maki will move into the front-row and Timothy Lomai will come into the 17.
The 3200 capacity grandstand has been sold out. The game will double as a test event for the Pacific Games venue.
The Hunters arrive in Port Moresby this morning from Kokopo and will settle in to the Holiday Inn near the match venue before heading to the stadium for a captain’s run this evening under lights.
The match will be broadcast live on TVWAN at 7pm.
