Team Fiji Volleyball Teams Unable to Participate in Pacific Games
The Fiji Women’s team won silver at the last Pacific Games in 2011 while the Fiji Men’s Team finished fifth.
“While it is unfortunate, especially knowing their potential, Team Fiji Volleyball has decided that they will not be able to participate because of certain circumstances,” said Chef de Mission Cathy Wong.
“We understand that players that have been training hard all year around will be disappointed but this is not the end of the road for them.”
Ms Wong said there were more opportunities for Fiji Volleyball in the future and to continue to strive to represent the country in future regional and international tournaments.
“Volleyball athletes should not let this dampen their spirits but use it as a motivating step towards something better and greater for them in their chosen sport,” she said.
Team Fiji however wishes the Fiji Volleyball Federation and its players all they best.
The Pacific Games will be held from the 4th to the 18th of July at Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
