MRS constructing two fuel tanks in PNG using Swiss technology with partner Royam
Management Resource Solutions (MRS) is a global company, currently operating in
Asia Pacific, active in supplying technical and strategic services in the Aviation, Oil &
Gas, Construction and Resources Industries. In Conjunction with European
construction specialists, Royam Enterprises, MRS is currently using the innovative
Hydraulic Tank Jacking System for the construction of two aviation fuel tanks at
Jacksons International Airport, Port Moresby for Pacific Energy Aviation (PNG)
Limited [PEAL]. Due to the nature and location of the project, height restrictions saw
MRS find an alternative solution from using the conventional crane construction
method.
The Hydraulic Tank Jacking (top down) method has proven to be more efficient
compared to the conventional (bottom up) construction and provides the upmost
Safety, Quality and Speed with all work being done on ground level. The method
consists of assembling the top strake and roof, then jacking the tank up and
assembling the next stake below it.
There are some key improvements from the conventional technique that gives the
Tank Jacking System a significant advantage:
Faster construction process
Final work quality significantly improved
Major safety improvement
More cost effective to implement and construct
Simplifies management
MRS brought in a Royam specialist from Switzerland to implement the system and
train local staff. Due to its efficiency, this method also requires less manpower and
heavy equipment use. Another key advantage of adopting the Tank Jacking method
is that construction can be done during rain season since construction is done inside
the tank with the protection of the tank shell plates.
Quality is our forte and together with Royam, MRS is excited about spearheading
innovative quality construction in Papua New Guinea.
