NCD launches Independence Celebrations

NCD Governor Powes Parkop has launched Independence celebrations at the Jack Pidik Park  in Port Moresby to mark 40 Days into 40th Independence of the country.

This saw citizens from differential group gathered in beautiful Cultural attires to celebrate the launch of the celebration with the National District Commission along with the European Union representatives and the US Embassy to Papua New Guinea.

Governor Parkop said as the Nation’s Capital, Port Moresby is Papua New Guinea in itself and during these 40 days before the Independence Day on 16th September, the city will start celebrations today until the 16th of September.

The Governor is calling on everyone in the city to take part in events that are coming up as the city prepares for the big celebration on Independence Day.

The Governor said the country is turning 40 years old and this is a tremendous achievement for the country .

Local Artists, Comedians and Cultural dance groups with Marianville Secondary School students and a band from the Royal PNG Constabulary where there with the general public to celebrate the Launch.
