PNG Hunters maintain second Position after impressive win over Ipswich Jets
The Papua New Guinea SP Hunters have maintained their second position on the Intrust Super Cup ladder after a convincing win over the Ipswich Jets 32 - 14 at the Ipswich Reserve. Even though the Hunters are equally placed on 37 points apiece with Townsville Blackhawks, the latter has a superior point difference and maintains the first position. The Hunters are placed second on the ladder.
The Hunters have beaten top teams consecutively. In round 20, the Hunters defeated Townsville Blackhawks 28 -26. In round 22, the Hunters came out winner in a close game over the East Tigers 24 - 22. In round 22, Australian Media reported that the Ipswich Jets were prepared to stop the Hunters winning run but the Hunters out-muscled the Jets 32 - 14 on their home turf.
The Hunters will meet third placed Wynnum Manly Seagulls next week in Port Moresby. More than 15 000 rugby lovers are expected to flood the Sir John Guise stadium on Sunday to watch the game.
