Our correspondent says nearby police witnessed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Serge Vohor, attack a photographer who was taking photos for the Daily Post newspaper.
Sixteen MPs are in court facing charges of bribery, relating to efforts to overthrow the previous Joe Natuman government.
The editor of the Daily Post, Royson Willie, was another witness to the attack.
Other witnesses say Mr Vohor then walked to his car and drove away.
