Facilities in PNG not ready for FIFA 2016 Under 20 Womens' World Cup
Papua New Guinea's ability to host the 2016 Under 20 Women's World Cup has come under the spotlight of the world soccer body, FIFA.
The FIFA delegates visited the country in early August and have found the infrastructure are not yet ready to host the event.
Apart from Port Moresby, they visited Kokopo in East New Britain and Lae in Morobe Province, as they will be hosting some of the teams.
FIFA has given P-N-G until October 15 to meet the requirements.
One of the requirements is that P-N-G must have 16 training sites, but with only 11 days away, the prospects of PNG hosting the world sporting event is very slim.
Some of the training sites in Port Moresby and Lae have already been confirmed.
A meeting was held over the weekend between various stakeholders, including FIFA's Glenn Turner, Oceania Football Confederation's, Tai Nicholas, the National Stadium's, Hubert Warupi and P-N-G Sports Foundation Executive Director, Peter Tsiamalili.
Mr.Tsiamalili has asked Soccer's World Governing Body to extend the deadline to November, 2015.
FIFA Vice President and PNG Football Association President, David Chung, meantime, says the security and medical is been taken care of and it is on track.
