PNGEC ready for 2017 National elections
The PNG Electoral Commission (PNGEC) says it is very well prepared in conducting the 2017 National Elections.
PNGEC recently completed its four Regional Workshops in the Highlands, New Guinea Islands, Momase and Southern which saw its stakeholders attending these workshops to put in their plans together in running of the 2017 National Elections.
During the workshops they have budgeted K170million to carry out the exercise of updating Electoral Rolls which should commence in March 2016.
PNGEC also says the funds will be used as well to cater for allowances for security and election officials, logistics and other necessities needed in carrying out this exercise throughout the country to have electoral rolls well updated before the National General Elections in 2017.
In the meantime, the campaign period for the Ijivitari by-election is progressing well and is slowly winding down.
According to the PNG Electoral Commission polling teams are now getting logistics ready for the one week polling that should begin on the 8th of November 2015.
Furthermore, with regards to certain candidates using the Mobile networks such as Digicel to do their campaigns, PNGEC says this is okay as it is the candidates own innovative ways to do their campaigns at this time of technology change in the country. Legend FM
