Prime Minister Peter O'Neill pays respect to late Yangoru-Sausia MP
The Prime Minister paid his respects to the family of the late MP and offered his condolences.
“Today we pay tribute to a man who served his people, served his nation and stood up for his beliefs,” the Prime Minister said after the funeral service.
“The Late John Jaminan lived a life that was witness to many important moments in the history of our country.
“Our thoughts and our prayers are with the family of the Late John Jaminan as they deal with his loss.
“His nation thanks him for his service, and Members of Parliament, both former and serving, will reflect on his contribution to public life.”
The Prime Minister laid a wreath as a mark of respect to late Jaminan’s contribution to the country and his electorate as Member of Parliament and leader.
Aged 72, the late former MP died at the Port Moresby General Hospital on September 30 following a short illness.
He served as an MP for Yangoru-Sausia electorate in the East Sepik province for over 15 years after first entering the National Parliament in 1977 and was re-elected in the 1982 and 1987 elections.
Late Jaminan served as Minister for Housing, with one of his achievements being the Public Service Home Ownership Giveaway Scheme, where nearly 4,000 homes where sold to public servants.
The current Yangoru-Sausia MP and Trade, Commerce and Industry Minister Hon. Richard Maru MP, on behalf of his people, thanked the Prime Minister Peter O'Neill for attending the funeral service.
