LNG REMAIN STABLE

Prime Minister Peter O'Neill has urged the nation to remain positive about the future, despite challenges through lower resource prices and an uncertain international economic environment.
Mr. O'Neill assures that Papua New Guinea is mindful of the world challenges and is carefully managing them, to cushion the effects on the country's economic.
He said the Government is optimistic about the future, with the country's economy expected to grow at 9.9% this year, and 4.7% growth next year.
Compared to global economic growth that has been forecast by the World Bank and IMF, at about 3.3 per cent, the Prime Minister said this is a very positive growth.
Mr. O'Neill said positive growths and outcomes are being recorded, and this was exciting times for PNG, despite world challenges.
The Prime Minister was speaking when opening the 14th PNG Mining and Petroleum Conference in Port Moresby yesterday.(Tuesday 24th November, 2015)
The theme for this year's three-day Conference is “Opportunities in Challenging Times.”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister O’Neill has called for cooperation from the mining and petroleum sectors to advance some of the key projects in the country.
The Elk Antelope, Stanley Gas, P’nyang gas, Wafi-Golpu and Freida River projects are important to these industries as well as the country.
And, Prime Minister O’Neill intends to fast track their developments.
Speaking at the same event, he said the government is mindful of the current global economic challenges which are affecting these sectors.
But, the Prime Minister assured them the government will continue to maintain the right climate for ongoing investment in the country’s economy, particularly in the resources sector.
