Prime Minister Peter O’Neill : Be proud of PNG’s transformation
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill appealed to the people and leaders of Papua New Guinea to be proud of their country as it is now changing globally and engaging in bigger issues. "This country is ours and no-one else will make it grow economically and a better place to live except ourselves," Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill said. He was addressing Rimbink Pato’s United Party fundraiser last Thursday where funds were raised to go towards their preparations for the 2017 National Election. Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill said that many good work that his Government has achieved in the four years since the 2012 when his party formed the Government, was together with United Party as a coalition partner. He spoke about the many criticisms now facing the Government every day, but assured they were challenges that his Government had to deal with. Prime Minister Hon. Peter O’Neill also gave examples of the United States, Australia and many other countries that are proud of their nations, which protect the interest of their state with might and never spoil their country, singling out that Papua New Guineans must take pride in their country.
"Yes, there are ups and downs, I can tell you that sometimes we have opposition on decisions, but as the Government we are able to do address them. "People begin to engage in criticisms about our government, but we must be constructive. We must be engaging for the good of our country. There is nobody else despite what you think and argue, that there is a bigger world out there that people are going to come and help us ….you are certainly on your own. Let’s learn to stand up. Be proud of your country."
