Teacher’s salaries, allowances and entitlement problems

Every year, teachers raise concerns over non-payment and or underpayment of salaries, allowances and lengthy delays in the payment of entitlement and it seems that the relevant government agencies, Department of Education, Teaching Service Commission and other partner are not effectively addressing teacher’s human resource functions.
Department of Education secretary Uka Kombra and Teacher Service Commission chairman Baran Sori held a press conference this week at the Fincorp building to make response to media news reports on teachers’ salaries, allowances and entitlements.
Teacher Services Commission chairman Baran Sori stated that provincial education authorities most follow procedure and policies on teacher’s appointments and reinstatement of teachers. The problems at hand now are teachers from Southern Highland, Central province and NCD who are claiming for none salaries payments and also these teachers who are claiming for teaching privileges yet not being received.
The Education Secretary said 52,000 teachers nationwide play a fundamental role in developing the future of this country and advises the provincial education authorities to compile all necessary documents of teacher in their provinces and district so problems like this can be avoided.
