Limited Preferential Voting will remain : Gamato
The Limited Preferential Voting (LPV) system will remain unless a directive is issued by parliament to have it changed, said the new PNG Electoral Commissioner, Patalius Gamato.
He was responding to a recent blog on social media regarding the National Executive Council (NEC) approval to abolish the LPV system and return to the old First Past the Post voting system.
"The LPV will remain because I have not received any directive for changes and nor am I aware of such an approval made by the NEC recently," Gamato said.
Meantime, according to the blog, the NEC approval for abolishing the LPV system was done on December the 16th.
