NICTA Girls in ICT Tertiary Scholarship calls for applications

The Papua New Guinea  National Information & Communications Technology Authority (NICTA) is a government agency responsible for the regulation and licensing of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Papua New Guinea (PNG), in respect of the areas of broadcasting; internet service provision; radiocommunications; and telecommunications.

In line with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) objective to grow the number of women/girls that are making a career in the ICT world, and in keeping with the national objective to empower women in PNG, NICTA launched the NICTA Girls in ICT Scholarship programme in 2013. Through this programme NICTA will support the education of girls in PNG, in an ICT related field of study. NICTA is pleased to announce that commencing next year 2016; four (4) scholarships are on offer and will be awarded to four successful applicants. The scholarship will cover tuition, boarding and lodging, textbook and stationary, fortnightly stipend and travel expenses.

Eligibility 

Applicants must be;

Female and just completed grade 12;

Achieve a Higher School Certificate (HSC) "B" average and above, in a science major stream

Selected or accepted for a first degree program in Electrical & Communications Engineering, Computer Science, IT or an ICT related course at a recognized institution in PNG.
