PNGRFL must explain Meninga's contract : Lepa
Timothy Lepa wants answer from PNGRLF on the contract of Kumul Coach Mal Meninga. |
CCIC CEO Timothy Lepa said the Chairman had to come out clear and explain to the people of PNG how Mal Meninga the current Kumuls Coach has become the National Coach of the Australian Kangaroos while he is still the Coach of the Kumuls.
This is a breach of contractual guidelines that bind Mal Meninga as Coach of the Kumuls and he should be brought to justice for this breach of contract, Mr Lepa said.
I now call on Sandis Tsaka, his former CEO Brad Tassel and the Board of PNG Rugby League to explain to the people of PNG why these huge sums of tax payer’s money have been used to hire a coach like Mal Meninga who does not have the interest of rugby league in PNG at heart but is only interested in financial gain, Mr Lepa added.
He said according to Meninga’s contract with the Kumuls coaching job he could take up coaching offers with other teams, however this showed the blatant disrespect and non commitment Meninga had for the Kumuls and the coaching position.
Mr Lepa said Chairman Sandis Tsaka should resign over his handling of Mal Meninga’s contract because he did not consider the impact it would have on PNG Rugby League when the contract was drawn out and what was happening currently which Meninga was holding PNG Rugby League at ransom.
Mal Meninga’s contract should be made available to PNG and all citizens should see the contents of his contract and the way in which it was drawn up. That way PNG citizens can be made aware of why Meninga left the PNG coaching job, Lepa said.
He added Meninga has on more than one occasion degraded and disrespected PNG rugby league and its people and he shouldn’t be allowed to hold the country and its citizens at ransom.
Mal Meninga was offered more Aus $500,000.00 to coach the PNG National side and now he has taken less to coach the Australian side, this shows his disrespectful nature towards PNG.
