Polye, Kouja condemn Police officers forcing a women to eat, chew condoms
PORT MORESBY: The Opposition joined achorus of condemnation on a cop, who inflicted on a Gulf lass to ‘chew and eat condoms in Boroko police cell this week.’
Its Leader Don Pomb Polye said; “Our women, girls, children and the disadvantaged should be treated with respect and dignity.”
Mr Polye said ‘this rogue behavior’ angered him, describing it as ‘inhuman and animalistic.’
His vice parliamentary leader of Triumph Heritage Empowerment party and Lae MP Loujaya Kouza described the cop, who forced the woman into the act as ‘sadistic’.
“Sadistic is the word which best describes the ‘rogue cop’, who made my sister to chew condoms. There is no degradation as low as that going to break her spirit.
“The sisterhood is praying for wisdom so other sisters can break this tyranny of humiliation alive and well in some PNG men, who are sadistically jealous of their fellow women,” she said.
Ms Kouza is responsible for the rights of women, girls, children and the disadvantaged in the party.
Polye has commended the top brass of the police hierarchy, calling for the suspect’s identification through a formal complaint by the woman.
He said, however, he hoped results would not be still outstanding as was the norm for many police brutality cases.
Polye has called on his fellow men not to live in the past and begin to respect the rights of the ‘weak human beings’ in the society.
“It is about time we need to weed out a few rogue police personnel who continue to throw mud at the Royal Constabulary,” an angry Polye said.
Meanwhile, on learning about a cop, who murdered a woman in Lae, Morobe, on Thursday sentenced to serve 30 years imprisonment with hard labour, the Opposition Leader said the punishment was enough to send shock waves across the police that they were not above the law.
In another police brutality related case on Hanuabada shooting, Mr Polye has also applauded the police officers for identifying at least a few suspects in their findings.
He has taken his hat off to the Police Commission Gary Baki for his leadership in a job well-done.
He said the public was looking forward to similar outcomes in other police brutality cases, which have been shelved for unknown reasons.
Mr Polye has slammed the Prime Minister and his police minister for giving ‘cold shoulder in police brutality’ in the country.
