Taboos and Cultural Norms prohibiting Sex Education in PNG
The Prime Minister's wife Lady Linda Babao O’Neill today in the Safe Motherhood Alliance’s Blooming Teen Project Conference said that the taboos and cultural norms that prohibit talking to children and young people about sex in this fast and changing world must change, as our young people are highly influenced by the technology and thing of the 21st century.
First Lady Linda O’Neill said that teens during puberty go through a lot of physical and emotional changes and during this time need guidance from people they trust such as their parents. She added that unwanted pregnancy is a big issue and the collective effort of everyone in the society is needed to combat unplanned pregnancy and its associated issues.
Mrs O’Neill applauded the efforts of Safe Motherhood Alliance and urged them to continue their humanitarian work. PNG FM/PNG Today
