Lamana brings back UB40 to perform 2 live shows in Port Moresby January 22nd & 23rd
Due to popular demand, the Lamana Hotel will be bringing back UB40 with lead singer Ali Campbell, singer Astro & keyboardist Mickey together with their full piece band Friday 22nd January at the Gold Club & Saturday 23rd at the Sir John Guise Stadium.
This will be UB40’s second trip to PNG after their first successful shows in April of 2014. Lamana management advised that the last time the band was here, they performed at a corporate function and then a sold out show at the Gold Club. As so many people had missed out on the first shows, this time around, a public show at Sir John Guise Stadium has been organized so that more of the public could attend, even children.
The first show will be at the Gold Club on Friday 22nd January and being a nightclub, this is restricted to adults only. The gates open at 6pm and as the last show was a sellout, the public is urged to purchase tickets in advance. There are 3 types of tickets, Arena K250 (downstairs), Balcony K350 & The Temple K400. Tickets are selling out fast for this Friday club show, so for those wanting to attend, you are urged to drop into Lamana Hotel’s reception and purchase a ticket to avoid missing out.
For the public show at Sir John Guise, there is no age limit so parents can bring children along as long as they have purchased tickets. There are three different ticket types, which are well priced at just K100. As explained by organizers, the Field tickets are for fans to stand in front of the stage on the actual field, while The Grand stand and Outer stand will have fans seated. The stage will be set up just below the big screen toward the edge of the Sir John Guise stadium. The stadium gates will open at 430pm and will close by 7pm when the show begins. Fans are urged to get in early. For those wanting to park within the stadium, you will need to already have a ticket on you and enter through the Sir John Guise road gate and pay the parking fee of K50 to the SJGS officers but as there is limited parking, you should get in early. Tickets for the Sir John Guise Saturday show are on sale at Lamana Hotel’s reception, as well as at Stop N Shop outlets around Port Moresby.
The public is also warned to ensure to buy tickets from Lamana Hotel and Stop N Shop outlets and not from persons outside as all tickets are security marked and tagged so you will be turned away if your ticket is deemed to be a fake.
For the many Papua New Guinean UB40 fans living outside of Port Moresby, should you wish to travel in to watch the show and need to pre-purchase tickets and organize accommodation, you can do so by emailing goldclub@lamana.com.pg.
The Lamana Hotel has a special holiday package on offer at K450 + 10% GST per night valid up until January 31st, so UB40 fans flying in can also take advantage of this offer.
