Buimo prison escapees still at large

The  64 escapees who escaped Buimo prison are still at large. This was confirmed by CS Chief Superintendant Joe Jako the man tasked with heading the investigation into the mass breakout of inmates.

Superintendent Jako said “The CS Commissioner Bernard Nepo has acted swiftly and has named Felix Namane as the Acting Commander for Buimo he is still yet to arrive in Lae and no prisoner has been recaptured over the weekend, security has been beefed up at the Buimo Jail as CS personnel from Wabag arrived last night to assist with manpower”.

Mr Jako also revealed that he had spoken to suspended Buimo Jail Commander Judy Tara this morning and the suspended Tara is of the belief that the breakout should have been averted as report of overcrowding at Buimo was repeatedly reported.

The general public in Lae is advised to keep exercising caution when traveling throughout the city and outlying areas. PNGFM
