Female graduates join Westpac
Westpac is proud to welcome two new graduates to its PNG team, with Rebecca Aibung and Jenelynne Bowoku joining the bank as part of the Westpac Group’s graduate program. Aibung and Bowoku were selected from a field of more than 90 applicants.
Now running in PNG for the fifth year, the Westpac Graduate Program introduces high-calibre recent university graduates into the Westpac business annually. The graduates gain experience across the entire bank, before moving into a permanent role that suits their skills and career aspirations.
“Since the graduate program began in PNG, we have welcomed a number of young people to our team and watched them perform very well,” said Geoff Toone, Managing Director of Westpac PNG.
“We aim to recruit high-calibre graduates who will build a solid career at Westpac and we find that having graduates within our workforce improves the skill level for our entire team – which will mean better results for years to come.”
Bowoku graduated from the University of Papua New Guinea in 2015, attaining a Bachelor's Degree in Economics.
“I am excited to be selected for the program because it has always been my dream to begin my career in the banking and financial services industry – and what better company to work for than Westpac” said Bowoku.
“I will do my best to absorb and learn all I can on the job to contribute to the continued success, growth and good reputation of Westpac in PNG.”
Aibung attained her Bachelor of Geographic Information Science Degree from the PNG University of Technology in 2014.
“It is a privilege to have been chosen to be in this scheme and I am thankful to Westpac and am really looking forward to this first year with the bank,” Aibung said.
