Goroka Rugby League Fans Enjoy an Extra Sweet Valentine’s Day
On Sunday 14 February, Goroka rugby league fans showed their love of football at NRL in the Park, a community event successfully hosted by Digicel Play.
The Valentine’s Day event, held at the National Sports Institute, attracted devoted rugby league fans from across Goroka who enjoyed a fun-filled day of live entertainment.
Goroka residents enjoyed listening to music sensation Leonard Kania perform his biggest hits live on the stage and also participated in footy games winning a range of prizes.
The rugby league fans were treated to a series of NRL highlights from past seasons on Digicel big-screens showcasing memorable tries, the biggest tackles and major hit-ups, making it a truly memorable Valentine’s Day for Goroka rugby league fans.
Governor of Eastern Highlands Province, Julie Soso, proudly attended the community day, presenting the crowd with a speech to officiate the event.
Organised and hosted by Digicel Play and TV WAN, the event is the fourth of seven being rolled out across PNG to celebrate the upcoming 2016 NRL season.
CEO Digicel PNG, Maurice McCarthy, said it was a successful day for everyone involved and really amplified the excitement for the upcoming football season within the community.
“Digicel are proud to host community lead initiatives that provide great opportunities for people to come together to enjoy a day of entertainment,” he said.
Other NRL in the Park events will be held during February at Madang (Saturday 20 February), Buka (Saturday 27 February) and Kokopo (Saturday 27 February).
